President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that a petition filed against Supreme Court Justice Yonny Kulendi did not establish a prima facie case, following advice from the Chief Justice.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, explained that the President acted in accordance with Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution by forwarding the petition to the Chief Justice for assessment.

Article 146 requires that any allegation against a Justice of the Superior Courts be reviewed to determine whether it establishes a prima facie case before further steps can be taken.

According to the statement, the Chief Justice, after examining the petition, informed the President that the allegations against Justice Kulendi did not meet the required threshold of a prima facie case. Based on this advice, President Mahama subsequently communicated the outcome to the petitioner.

The decision effectively brings the matter to a close, as the absence of a prima facie case means the petition will not proceed to a formal investigation or any further constitutional process.

No additional details were disclosed regarding the substance of the petition or the identity of the petitioner.
